Milltown's Family Reading Night very well attended despite rainy weather

Outside the rain was pouring down on the guests who raced into cover at the Milltown Primary School on Wednesday, March 6.

But inside the school building, the atmosphere was dry and warm and friendly.

Milltown’s Family Reading Night was held on that rainy evening, but the weather did not slice down the number of families who participated.

A large crowd turned out to visit and purchase books during the Book Fair in the library while they stopped by numerous classrooms to listen to Milltown teachers read. Also, literacy projects that were created by the Milltown students were spread around the cafeteria.

And in the gymnasium. the school’s  dedicated leader, Principal Matt Lembo, read to an eager group of youngsters.

“Family Reading Night was a resounding success,’’ Principal Lembo declared. “Under the leadership of Mrs. (Gina) Cocivera-Wright and Mrs. (Andrea)  McKenna, dozens of faculty members came to read to our children.”

Principal Lembo was impressed with the attendance.

“Families showed up in droves to celebrate reading, the special work of our students and to visit our Book Fair,” he said. “It is truly wonderful how our school community comes together to celebrate at Milltown School.”
