Liya Medallon of Bridgewater-Raritan High School established a school record in the triple jump during the Skyland Conference Track and Field Championship on Tuesday, May 6, at Hillsborough High School.

Medallon set the school record when she scored a measurement of 36 1’’, which is the 22nd best overall in New Jersey. She broke the previous Bridgewater-Raritan record of 35 4.5’’ that was set by Grace Lu in 2016.

Medallon placed third in the event at the conference meet.

Overall, Bridgewater-Raritan as a team placed seventh out of 22 schools that competed in Hillsborough. Bridgewater-Raritan finished fifth in the Delaware Division in the meet.

Also starring for Bridgewater-Raritan were Emily Leppert, who finished second in the discus with a distance of 116’ 0’’. Her teammate also fared well in the discus when Madeline Corbitt finished fourth with a 107 6’’ and Madison E’Elia took fifth with a 107’ 2''.

Dahlia Adams placed sixth in the 800-meter run for Bridgewater-Raritan with a time of 2:25.8, which was a three-second personal best.

“I can't thank our coaching staff enough for their hard work, they are a big reason our athletes are so successful. Coach (James) Luginsland is responsible for the throws, and Coach (Darren) Lewis is responsible for the jumps, specifically,” Bridgewater-Raritan Head Coach Adam Pyle said.
